Roasted cauliflower is the best – it develops a sweet, nutty taste as it roasts and goes great with just about any dish. You can even blend it up to make roasted cauliflower soup!

To give it a little more punch, I added a spice blend with turmeric, cumin, and other flavors. It really take the cauliflower up a notch.

What Makes This Turmeric Roasted Cauliflower So Great

  • It’s super simple – cauliflower, spice, and oil, then combine together and cook.
  • This roasted cauliflower has warm and rich flavors that make it a great comfort food.
  • It’s gluten free, paleo, and Whole30 compliant, so it makes for a healthy side dish!

Before we get to the recipe, let’s talk about cauliflower.

Is Roasted Cauliflower Healthy?

Yes, it can be! While it depends on your view of healthy and what you put on it, by itself cauliflower has lots of vitamins and minerals.

What Goes with Roasted Cauliflower?

So many things! You could pair cauliflower with meat dishes like Skillet Ground Beef or Grilled Chicken Thighs or even with a nice salad like this Gyro Salad.

Cooking Tips

  • If your cauliflower has little brown spots on it, just shave them off with a sharp knife.
  • When breaking the cauliflower into smaller pieces, make sure the pieces are about the same size (no wider than 1 inch across). Otherwise the pieces won’t cook evenly.
  • Be careful with the turmeric! It will stain anything it touches. When covering the cauliflower with the spice blend, use a large spoon or other utensil to blend everything together.

Recipe Variations

  • If cauliflower’s not your thing, this recipe also works well with other vegetables like broccoli or potatoes.
  • Try different oils to see which you like best. Other options could be olive oil or a flavored oil.
  • Get some extra spice in this recipe by adding 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to the spice blend!

How To Make Turmeric Roasted Cauliflower

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and set aside.

Wash and dry the cauliflower and remove the stem and leaves from the head, cutting it away if necessary with a sharp knife.

Start breaking apart the cauliflower into small floret pieces, less than 1 inch wide at the top.

breaking up cauliflower pieces

Try to break the pieces into about the same size, as they will cook up unevenly if their sizes are too different.

Place the cauliflower in a large bowl and pour the avocado oil over it. Stir the cauliflower and oil together with your hands until the cauliflower is evenly covered with oil.

Measure out the spices with measuring spoons and place them in a small bowl. Stir them together, then sprinkle them over the cauliflower. Use a large spoon to mix the spice blend and cauliflower together.

Place the cauliflower in a single layer on the sheet pan and place in the oven. Set the timer for 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, remove the sheet pan and stir the cauliflower with the large spoon. Spread it into an even layer again and put the sheet pan back in the oven for 20 minutes.

Check the cauliflower for doneness after the timer goes off. Spear a larger piece with a fork to make sure it’s cooked all the way through. The pieces should be darker in color with some having browned spots.
