These Chocolate Covered Orange Slices are the perfect healthy dessert recipe. With only three ingredients, they’re super easy to make as a treat or snack, plus they’re gluten free and can be made paleo!
Place a piece of parchment paper on a sheet pan. Set aside.
Peel the oranges, making sure to remove as much of the pith as possible (the stringy white stuff between the peel and the slices of fruit). Separate each orange slice, then set them aside while you heat the chocolate.
Pour the chocolate chips into a medium sized bowl. Microwave in 30 second increments until the chips are nearly melted, stirring gently with a spoon or other utensil between heating cycles. Once the chocolate is nearly completely melted, take it out and whisk the chocolate until no lumps remain.
Take one of the orange slices and dip it halfway into the chocolate, then remove it and lay it down onto the parchment paper. Repeat with each orange slice, being careful not to pierce any of the orange slices so as not to let orange juice into the chocolate. If juice gets into the chocolate it will cause the chocolate to seize (become hard and crumbly).
As you complete a row of chocolate covered orange, you can sprinkle a pinch of flaky salt onto each slice, if desired. Once all the oranges have chocolate on them, place the sheet pan in the fridge for at least 20 minutes (or the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes), until chocolate has hardened.
