Dry Rubbed Flank Steak (Gluten Free)

This Dry Rubbed Flank Steak recipe is an easy and healthy weeknight dinner that's great with a side of veggies or on a salad. The seasoning goes on as a rub, then add some oil and cook it on the grill. It's grilled steak perfection!

Ingredients

  • 1.5 to 2 lb flank steak
  • 1 tbsp light brown sugar
  • ½ tbsp chili powder
  • ½ tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp mustard powder
  • ¼ tsp ground coriander
  • ¼ tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp high heat oil avocado or canola

Instructions

Items Needed:

  • A grill
  • A large cutting board
  • Measuring spoons
  • A small bowl
  • A large sharp knife

Directions:

  • Set the grill to heat to 425 degrees F.
  • Take the flank steak out of its packaging and dab it with a paper towel to remove any moisture. Lay it out on the cutting board and set aside.
  • Measure out the spices (light brown sugar through the cumiwith measuring spoons and combine them in a small bowl.
  • Sprinkle half of the rub on one side of the steak and spread it around with your hand to rub it in, then flip the steak over and sprinkle the second half of the rub onto the other side of the steak, again spreading it around with your hand to rub it in.
  • Measure out the oil with a measuring spoon and pour half of it onto one side of the steak and rub that in. Do the same on the other side. Be sure to wash your hands with soap after touching the raw meat!
  • Place the flank steak on the grill and cook for 5 minutes on one side. Then flip and cook for 6 minutes on the other side (for medium doneness). Cook a minute or two less for medium rare or a minute or two more for well done.
  • While the steak is cooking, wash the large cutting board to be ready for after the flank steak is done.
  • Once the steak is done cooking, place it on the cutting board and let rest for 10 minutes. After it rests, cut it into slices using a large sharp knife. Serve immediately.
